Web-based Ophthalmology Charge Capture and HL7 Billing Interface

EyeChart puts the charge capture tool on the web and into the doctors hands. It's extremely simple to use and FAST! Doctors who otherwise would say 'get that computer away from me because it will slow me down' have instead said 'sign me up!'

Over 30 clinical ophthalmologists use the system to perform diagnosis coding and CPT based charge capture in the exam room. The charges are sent electronically via an HL7 interface to the institutional billing system. As a result, the AR (accounts receivable) days have dropped dramatically thereby speeding up payments and cash flow.

We designed and custom built the web-based system using an Apache server running on a Linux virtual host. The database is Oracle 10g.
